Review: K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner

June 30, 2017 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

I’ve mentioned eons ago how awesome K-Palette 1 day tattoo real lasting eyebrow liner is but alas, I haven’t reviewed it yet! If you know me, then you know I’m cray over Etude House’s dirt cheap Drawing eyebrow pencil. It’s what I use on the daily but only because I’m lazy.

Recently though, I started reaching for the 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow liner. I’ve always known that the product is terrific but after my wedding, I didn’t reach for it as much. I suppose I fell in love for the second time with the 1 Day Tattoo… so much that I bought another one just in case!

For those who are not familiar, K-Palette is a Japanese brand that offers everything from concealer to eyebrow products. I’ve been a longtime fan and my favorite is the product we’re reviewing today.

What is it:  K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow liner

The K-Palette 1 day tattoo real lasting eyebrow liner is a pen-type eyebrow tint that looks like a typical liquid eyeliner pen for easy application. The tip of the pen is a fiber brush with a fine tip so you can draw fine, wispy brow hairs.

Performance

I got the dark brown shade (01) and it’s been a staple in my kit. This used to be my go-to brow liner until I switched to Etude House’s Drawing eyebrow pencil. The K-Palette 1 day tattoo real lasting eyebrow takes a while to layer. The pigment is thin so you don’t go overboard as you do your brows.

tinaciouswriter

With the Drawing eyebrow pencil, I don’t have to layer the product as much, it’s quite pigmented. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how heavy handed you are. Unfortunately, I’m heavy handed so I tend to overdraw my brows using a regular eyebrow pencil.

tinaciouswriter

With the K-Palette 1 day tattoo real lasting eyebrow, I don’t worry too much about the pigment. It’s so carefree but it will take time and patience getting the brows right. But once you’re done, your brows will stay put for hours. There were times when I wore my brows for 9 hours straight and they still looked freshly applied when the rest of my face makeup has gone gnarly.

Swatch Party

tinaciouswriter

I believe this product comes in three shades but my local Beauty Bar only has 1 shade available, which thankfully is the shade I use.

Final Thoughts

K-Palette is always re-formulating the product every year or so and the K-Palette 1 day tattoo real lasting eyebrow always gets better with every reiteration. It’s waterproof, sweatproof, and virtually life-proof. It’s versatile and resilient, perfect for the tropical weather.

tinaciouswriter

That said, the product is a little expensive at almost PHP 900 a piece but hey, kilay (eyebrow) is LIFE. Overall, this is a fantastic product for peeps like me whose mood pretty much depends on how perfect the eyebrows have been drawn that day!

5 Useful Google Maps Features You Didn’t Know

No doubt about it, Google Maps is the most reliable of all web mapping systems. And at some point, this app helped you navigate through unfamiliar streets. But if you think you know how to use Google Maps, there’s a good chance that you’ve never dug deeper to discover the service’s hidden features.

Sure, you know how to calculate the fastest route toward a destination or find high res satellite images but there is more to Google Maps than providing panorama view from street level! In today’s post, we are sharing some of the most important Google Map features you need to check out:

A Look Back in Time

If you are using Google Map then you probably know how to use Street View. This feature presents a 360-degree panorama view from street level. Although the Street View feature has only been introduced in 2007, millions of street locations have been added to Google Maps. These stored views allow you to look back in time. Try it by launching the street view window and dragging the yellow figure on a specific area of the map you’d like to explore.

As the panorama loads, there will be a small window in the upper left with your current location. Under the address is a small clock logo and date. Tap this and a slider window will pop. Wait for the slider window to pop to travel back in time.

Check Real Time Traffic

If you think Google Maps does not come with a real-time traffic report like Waze, think again. You can make your own traffic report and keep tabs on traffic data in real time by clicking the Traffic link on the top left corner of the screen.

As the traffic view loads, you will see networks in corresponding colors mapped across the roads. These markers will show you the traffic condition of a specific area. You can also check traffic conditions by toggling the Live Traffic to Typical Traffic on the bottom center of the new toolbar. Using the data, you can predict the best time to travel, any time or any day of the week and plan accordingly.

Measuring Distances All Over the World

Did you know Google Maps allows users to measure the distance between two points anywhere in the world with just a click of a button? This feature will come in handy if you are planning a vacation! To give this nifty feature a try, go to the drop-down menu and choose “Measure Distance”.  A white dot with a bold black line will drop on the map.

Now click the map and Google Maps will calculate the distance between these points. Just keep tapping the maps to add more dots. If you are planning a long journey, you can move these points around by dragging and dropping the white dots. The total area and distance will be presented in both Metric and US measurements on the bottom of the map.

Feed Directions to Your Smartphone

Google Maps syncs data from the desktop to a smartphone. This feature allows you to access a certain address and send the data to your mobile device. Just sign in on your mobile device with the same Google Account you use on your PC. Then, find the address you need then click “Send to Device” on the left side menu.

If your device is not appearing on the selection, check if the “Sent From Desktop Maps” option is toggled in your mobile device’s settings menu. You will get the notifications on your mobile device once you hit send.

Virtual Tour

Did you know that Google Maps lets you take a virtual tour of a street just like a First Person Shooter in a video game? Hold the W and S keys and you will move forward and back while the A and S keys shift your gaze from left to right. Just play with these keys and you’ll feel like walking on any street using Google Street View. You can also use the directional arrows to move around your chosen destination!

Arianna Huffington’s Business Advice for Startups, “Go to Bed.”

When Techcrunch correspondent Sarah Burr asked Arianna Huffington what advice she’d give to startup entrepreneurs, she had this to say: go to sleep.

The author and syndicated columnist revealed that sleep deprivation is the undoing of most startup founders.

In a phone interview with Burr, Arianna said, “There is this kind of founder myth that if you are a founder you can’t afford to get enough sleep. The truth is three-quarters of startups fail and if founders got more sleep they’d have a better chance of succeeding.” But sleep is the last thing that most busybodies have in mind when running a business.

Arianna insisted that anyone could squeeze in a few zzz’s no matter how busy life gets. And to prove her point, she is putting her $8 million Manhattan apartment on Air BnB. The impeccably furnished apartment features a hot bath, a massive bed and “luscious pillows” to help guests get some shut-eye.

Arianna is so committed to getting people to sleep that she had nap rooms at Huffington Post and AOL, two companies she founded.  According to Arianna, most executives would collapse or suffer mental problems from lack of sleep. She noted that United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz and JP Morgan’s head of M&A Jimmy Lee are just two of the most prominent names in the business industry who suffered extreme sleep deprivation. She said there are successful executives who don’t sleep much, such as  Jack Dorsey, Donald Trump, and Martha Stewart, but not everyone works well under pressure when sleep deprived.

She noted that United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz and JP Morgan’s head of M&A Jimmy Lee are just two of the most prominent names in the business industry who suffered extreme sleep deprivation. Getting enough sleep isn’t just about staying healthy. It also helps entrepreneurs make better decisions in business. Arianna herself collapse from exhaustion a few years back, leading her to live a life filled with afternoon naps.

“We now have the most amazing science that proves without doubt sleep deprivation affects every aspect of our health and our productivity,” Arianna said. To prove her point, she sleep-trained Uber executive Travis Kalanick. Arianna said avoiding caffeine after 2 PM and leaving your bedroom dark and quiet are secret to getting much-needed rest at night.

iPad Pro Review: 7 Key Features We Love!

June 28, 2017 by Tina Lee-Almazar | Tinaciouslee Leave a Comment

Move over iPad Air (you too, iPad mini), there is a new tablet in town and it is one powerful beast! At 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro is Apple’s biggest slate yet. It’s more than just a tablet, the iPad Pro is designed as a laptop replacement.

iPad Pro comes with Apple’s A9X processor, which can handle processing, photo editing, and 4K video streaming with ease. If you’re finally ready to spend your hard-earned cash on this baby, here are the 7 major features you can expect from the iPad Pro:

sylo

Larger Display

iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch Retina screen is almost the same size as a conventional laptop. The Pro’s screen size is slightly larger than its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro, which measures 12.2 inches. Because the Pro is about the same size as the iPad Air 2, you can run full sized Air 2 apps with it. The larger screen paired with the multitasking feature makes video streaming a joy. The word processing/photo editing less cumbersome.

Powerful Processor

Of course, the iPad Pro is not just about the size, it is also a powerful machine. At the heart of the Pro is the third generation A9X, a 64-bit chip that offers twice the memory bandwidth of the A8X. The A9X processor delivers twice the storage performance and processing speed of its older sibling. According to Apple, the A8X processor almost yields “desktop” level performance so you can expect the A9X to pack plenty of power!

Multi-Tasking Feature

Using Adobe Photoshop’s Fix application on the iPad Pro is quite the experience. The Fix was designed specifically for the Pro. Thanks to the Pro’s multi-tasking feature, it can detect facial features, making photo editing a breeze. The Pro also supports Photoshop Sketch and Apple Pencil.

Excellent Speakers

Although iPad and iPhone’s speakers are good, they are not worth writing home about. That’s because iPads and iPhones only come with two speakers. On the other hand, the Pro is fitted with four speakers, delivering major audio improvements.

The speaker housings are fused directly into the unibody enclosure. This allows for 61% more volume and 3 times more output than previous models. That means you never have to cup your hand over the speakers to make the sound more audible.  Oh, the Pro can also recognize the device orientation to ensure balanced audio.

Better Battery

Thanks to its powerful battery, the iPad Pro makes a proper workhorse for business use as well as pros on the go. The Pro’s 38.5 watt-hour battery yields about 10 hours of life so it can survive a whole day’s worth of hard use. To put that into perspective, the Pro’s battery life is longer than Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3’s, which only packs enough juice for 9-hour usage.

Storage Options

Because this slate is geared for business and power users, the iPad Pro comes with 32GB and 128 GB memory. Although the iPad Pro offers plenty of space for high-performance application, we’re quite surprised that Apple decided against offering a 64GB version. As with most Apple products, the Pro does not have a microSD slot so the internal storage is not expandable.

Lightness

They say bigger is better and that may be true for the iPad Pro. Although the Pro is the largest in Apple’s range, it only weighs about 713 grams. The Pro is just 276 grams heavier than iPad Air despite the extra two inches of display and large chassis.  Because the Pro is light, users can enjoy the larger dimensions and get work done without the muscle strain.

The iPad Pro is now available to order! The iPad Pro 32GB and 128GB WiFi-only models will set you back £679 and £799, respectively while the LTE 128GB version costs £899.

How to Curate Your Newsfeed on LinkedIn

June 28, 2017 by Tina Lee-Almazar | Tinaciouslee Leave a Comment

NOTE: This article was part of the content stolen (and published without consent under a different author) from yours truly by an ex-client: Steven J. Hammond or Steve Hammond (profile here) of sylo.eu. Stealing is not cool, yo. All images credited to owners.

With over 433 million users, LinkedIn is one of the most popular social networking sites for professionals and entrepreneurs. And if you are an active user, chances are, you have at least a hundred connections on LinkedIn.

The beauty of LinkedIn is that it makes content sharing and networking so easy. However, some may be frustrated with the level of digital noise on their newsfeeds. Organize your newsfeed and curate relevant information easily with these simple steps:

sylo

Curating Content

We all have that one annoying contact that posts a large number of updates that we’re not interested in. If that individual is flooding your feeds, it is time to start hiding his or her post. You can do this two ways: remove a connection or hide the updates.

Remove Connection

To remove a connection, click the person’s name, select the drop-down arrow next to the “Endorse” button and click “Remove Connection.”

Hide Updates

To hide a connection’s updates without removing the contact as a connection, hover the cursor over one of the updates; click the “Hide” link that appears on the upper right of the update.

You’ll have to either remove connections or hide a contact’s updates several times until the unwanted updates are no longer showing on your news feed.

Organizing Companies to Follow

If you are following several companies, new updates will show up on your feeds every time. You have to organize the list of companies you are following to reduce the number of irrelevant updates on your news feeds. You can do that by heading to the LinkedIn homepage and hovering the cursor over your photo on the top right. Select “Privacy & Settings” then click the Groups, Companies & Applications tab on the lower left. Click the View Companies You’re Following link. Click all the companies you no longer want to follow.

Manage Groups

Joining groups is an important part of marketing your business on LinkedIn. However, if you no longer want to see group updates on your newsfeeds, you can tidy up by clicking the “Privacy & Settings” section then choose “View Your Group”. From there, you will see a list of all groups you belong to, with the option to leave certain groups. Just click the Member bottom to leave the group.

Managing General Updates

You can choose what types of content you can see from your LinkedIn newsfeed by heading over to the LinkedIn homepage and selecting the “Privacy & Settings” section and clicking on the “Account” tab on the lower bottom left.

Choose “Customize the Updates” tab and start de-selecting all the areas you don’t want from the update tab. LinkedIn will apply the changes so updated for new connections, job opportunities, updates from shared connections or followed companies will no longer show up on your newsfeeds.

From the Hidden tab, you will see all the contacts you decided to hide from your newsfeed. You can always activate the updates from these contacts by clicking the “Show Updates” button.
