Review: Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Pencil

August 26, 2015 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

I love me some brow pomade and gels but on days when I only have ten seconds to do my brows, I use a brow pencil! And I’ve tried several brow pencils, mostly from drugstore brands, and there’s nothing there that truly impresses.

Etude House’s Drawing eyebrow pencil features a slanted tip on one end and a soft spoolie on the other end. The spoolie, btw, is fabulous!

The pencil comes in six shades but only three are available when I visited my local Etude. And of the three, only two match my hair color. It’s hard to check the color because there is no distinction between products except for a small silver sticker that says 2 and 3.

Photo 8-24-15, 7 16 51 PMAs you can see from the swatch, the first one is more neutral toned while the one at the bottom is warmer toned. As far as the texture goes, it’s quite stiff but waxy. With each stroke, the pigment will cling on the brows effectively so you get really good pigmentation.

It’s quite easy to create subtle and defined brows with these pencils because they are very blendable. I love how natural-looking the result is with either color!

It’s not exactly fool-proof but as long as you are not too heavy-handed during application, these are great basic brow products for those who are getting into makeup for the first time.

The Drawing brow pencil is also cheap as chips! They last a really long time and are surprisingly affordable at PhP130+

The only thing I don’t like about this product is the staying power. This s not the kind of product that will stay put for hours. My brow tails are usually faded at the edges after the four-hour mark and I don’t even have oily skin. If you’re have the habit of unconsciously touching your face, there is a good chance that you will accidentally wipe out parts of your brows and that look ain’t pretty.

Overall, this product rocks my boat! I use on days when I don’t have errands to run or I won’t stay out for long. It’s a great product for people who are discovering makeup for the first time and those who only have less than a minute to do their brows.

Sneaky Peek: The Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat

August 19, 2015 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Oh hai, I’m back! I know it’s been a little quiet here because I’ve been having issues with my connection + you know, working and stuff. But who cares!

I just found a small beauty store in Tiendesitas that sell Sephora goodies including Urban Decay, MAC, Lorac, ABH and Two Faced. I’m extremely pleased that they have most Sigma brushes (among other things) on hand and that they accept credit card!s I searched for the little store because I wanted to get this little gem:

It’s the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Mat! I’ve been patiently waiting until Luxola restocks this baby since they sold out last month. I tried ordering this from two shops that sell on-hand items and they refused to pre-order this for godknowswhat reason. I tried pre-ordering from two other contacts, but they were charging me more than double the actual cost. Since I have no patience, I tried looking for beauty stores that has this in stock. Finally, I found one and it’s a stone’s throw away from my place. How convenient is that?

Unfortunately, they sell this at double its actual price. *Sad Face* But I just bit the bullet because clearly, Luxola is not in any hurry restock this product and m,y brushes are always not clean enough! I haven’t used the mat yet because I’m been away from home for the past few days. As soon as I’ve used it, I will write a review 😀

Review: Inglot Duraline

August 5, 2015 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

My old Anastasia Dip Brow pomade dried up to the point that it’s unusable. Because I barely made a dent on the thing, I looked for ways to make the product work again.

inglot

I’ve heard about the reviving powers of Inglot’s Duraline and I was curious if it can make my brow pomade workable again. Luckily, there’s an Inglot store in Megamall, my fave mall. A bottle costs PhP800, which is affordable considering how large the bottle is. Yes, the bottle looks small but considering how very little product you need each time you use it, the bottle will last for years!

The liquid itself is colorless and odorless. It looks and feels like mineral or baby oil, but the texture is thinner.

Duraline serves a lot of purposes. Apart from reviving gel liners and brow pomade, you can use it to transform powder shadows into liquid pigments! The bottle comes with a tiny dropper to disperse the product

To use Duraline to transform powder products into liquid pigments, add a dot of Duraline on the powder product on a mixing plate. Mix the whole thing together and apply.

To revive dried up brow pomade, just add a drop or two of Duraline directly into the pot. Spread the liquid evenly then mix. The pomade should go back to its old creamy, smooth self in no time at all!

I’ve tried it with the dip brow and got great results! I love how I can transform just about any powder eyeshadow into colored eyeliner too! And let me tell ya, once the transformed powder shadow sets, it’s too not going anywhere. In fact, to remove the makeup, you’d have to use an oil-based remover.

Overall, this is an excellent, multi-purpose product. It’s perfect as a reviver for old gel liners but works even better to turn any powder product into liquid pigment.
