2012: The Year in Review

December 31, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

*Edited*

It’s that time of the year when I round up all the wonderful, wonderful events of the year past and cram ‘em into a single post.

This year was infinitely better than 2011. I would say 2012 has been very kind to me both personally and professionally.  First, there was my birthday, which was celebrated with the boyfriend at Astoria Hotel. It was memorable because it was my first birthday celebrated with my beau and second, he surprised me with his cooking! It was a great weekend 🙂

My sister also came home this year which meant I was busy most of the time. Hey, going to the mall every other day is tough on my schedule and my budget too, you know. Hahahahaha! Things were smooth on the homefront but not as great when it comes to work but so far, things are working out great.

In terms of my persona life, things are great as well. Well, it’s not perfect but things are just peachy. I’m hoping things will be better next year. I’m trying to establish a better outlook, in terms of my health and weight and this is something I want to put into practice for a long time. Though I know it’s been causing friction with people around me, I’m determined to make this work or else.

2012 was full of conflicts for me as well but nothing major. I think most of these conflicts were a result of my own stubbornness but I still maintain a relatively positive attitude towards the coming year. Last year, I think I made a shitload of purchases and totally ignored my own NY resolutions. This year won’t be any different, I think. But this year, I’m totally committed on minimizing my purchases. Okay so maybe I didn’t, I bought two Coach bags and will be buying an iPad mini sometime this week but after that, I’ll totally stop overspending. Hahahahah, we’ll see.

2012 was a year full of adventures too. From gaining a real “couple friends” for the first time, Jon and Karen to reconnecting to old ones and meeting loads of other people in between. This year was like a giant get together thing with people I mostly don’t know hehehehe. This made me appreciate the lifestyle I lead. I love the quiet, hanging around the house, seeing people I like and then going out to the mall whenever I feel like it, it’s awesome! Let’s hope nothing will change that this year 🙂

So overall, this year was full of highs and the lows were very far and wide in between.  The highest being the return of my sister and the low was bidding goodbye to old employers.

2012 was a fantastic year and I can only hope things go as smoothly come 2013. It’s less than an hour before I welcome the new year here at my aunt’s place.  I wish everyone lots of surprises and adventures ahead. Cheers to the new year!

Watching For Watches

December 28, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

You know what would complete my life? A really expensive watch. Preferably a Philip Stein watch. Teehee.

Or this super cute TechnoMarine watch. Perfect cuz I’m a Pisces! But at this point in time, I could think of better ways to spend 50 grand.
watch

I’m a watch nut, btw. I think every person should own at least one expensive watch, not necessarily a Rolex.  For those who have very deep pockets, you should invest on a great watch! They make great accessories and unlike el cheapo watches, they can last practically a lifetime, with proper care! Mind you, I have nothing against cheap watches. In fact, I used to have a pink Fossil watch and a retro Casio watch (because it’s uso, lol) plus two Guess? watches (which I never wear anymore since they ran out of batteries, hahahhaha!). But nothing feels as luxurious as a weighty, super expensive watch on your wrist, amiright?

The best watch I have so far is a Celine watch, which was gifted to me by my sister cuz she knows how much I love the feel of fine jewelry rubbing against my skin, heeeheee I appreciate fine engineering. Plus I got super inggit when my cousin bought a Philip Stein watch. Maybe this is her way of shutting me up, hahahah!

Hay nako, I swear if I managed to buy everything I want by the first quarter of the year (iPad mini, Rayban aviator shades and a Hello Kitty Instax mini 25 camera), I’m going to save my monies for at least a Technomarine watch.

Grey Area

December 25, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Heyo, merry Christmas! No, the world did not end on 12-21-12

I got me three new bags, a gym bag, an everyday tote and a bigass bucket bag. Problem is, they are in varying shades of grey! My ghed, it didn’t occur to me that they were all in the same color until this afternoon. The gym bag was the boyf’s birthday gift, the bucket bag was my cousin’s gift, the Coach bag was something I got on whim.

I got my sister a couple of Urban Decay’s eye shadow palette, Naked 1 and 2. For my boyfriend, I got him a great bottle of cologne and for the folks, a bag and perfume. And for the baby bro, Jenga. He love it to bits.

Christmas was great this year, despite celebrating it with my cousins rather than my own fam. Long story. Anyway, I’ve been overeating for days on end! So tomorrow, I have to start avoiding carbs like a plague once again! Oh, and I’ll be spending most of the day at work and on the mall after, which is sorta anti-climactic for the holidays. But it’s alright, I’m pretty stoked about the new year because I’m all set for 2013’s surprises!

And for no reason at all, I’ll close this post with a cute picture of my baby boy, Dimitri 😀 He’s grey too! Happy Holidays!

Tablet or Financial Freedom?

December 16, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

So if you got the money, which would you rather get, a gadget you were once excited to buy or… financial freedom? Well, I was made to choose yesterday and I did the unthinkable. I made a major grownup decision. Rather giving myself an early Christmas gift by buying an iPad mini, I decided to use the money to clear my credit card debt. I know. So this is how financial freedom feels. I actually don’t miss it lol.

But of course, I know I did the right thing. I mean, I’m far from being neck deep in debt but wouldn’t it be completely wrong if I  make a major purchase for capricho’s sake rather than pay everything I owe (it’s your fault anyways) first and just wait a while longer before I get that shiny new gadget? Wouldn’t I look like a real poser prancing around with my new toy while I turn a blind eye on my financial obligations? Call me superstitious but the new year is almost upon us and there’s no way I’ll start it with still-unpaid debt.

Yeah, it was a mature thing do to and though it’s sucky, I don’t regret it. Maybe it has something to do with me no longer being excited about the damn tablet as I once was or maybe because an iPad mini with retina display was said to be in the works, I dunno. The prospect of buying a Nexus right now is strong but at this point, I’m not sure if I’m gonna hold out for better stuff to come along. Hahaha, obviously I still feel bad about delaying my own Christmas gift but it wouldn’t be the first time 🙂

So yeah, yay.

iPad Mini: Getting One Soon?

December 15, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

So after waiting for almost two months, I was able to set  reservation for an iPad mini somewhere in Cyberzone Megamall. The prices were so jacked up that even at the end, I was sorta hoping it will go down after December (Initially planned on getting one during the first week of January as I won’t be here in the city for Christmas). But alas, after waiting and waiting, it sure doesn’t look like the excitement will die down anytime soon so what’s a girl to do, right?

ipad mini

I am torn between the 64BG wifi only version and the 32 GB 4G version (but leaning towards the latter, fuck memory, man). But my sister kept insisting on getting an iPad 4 instead of the mini because it’s more “practical”. All bets are off at this point. If I’m lucky, I just might get the mini sometime next week. I’m actually not as excited as I once was about getting one though. You know the feeling when you reach a momentum and somehow nothing happened? So you aren’t as enthusiastic about it as you once were, that’s how I feel because I waited this long.

Also, I heard something about an iPad mini with Retina display on the works. The rumor mill is abuzz with a slated release maybe on March or April. Which kinda makes me wonder whether I can wait a while longer for that or not. I’d love a Retina display mini but can I wait that long? I dunno man. I mean, this is supposed to be a Christmas gift to myself, not a birthday gift, lol.

Of course, being as indecisive as I am, I’m not so sure what to buy now. All these rumors made the iPad 3 a worthy investment in my eyes. Heh, we’ll see what happens next week.

Hair History

December 11, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Just had a major hair cut. It’s not my old Tina look circa 2007, more of my 2004 hair cut. Not a lot of people know why I had such a short haircut then. Can you believe it has something to do with my weight? *Cue the music*

image201212110004

I was super fat then, like 145 pounds (I’m 5’2). So my face looks like a giant siopao. When I turned a senior in college I vowed to lose all the weight and if I managed to do the impossible, I will pull a Judy Ann, cut my hair super short so people can see how small my face has become.

tina3
No, this isn’t me at my fattest.

So that day came and the minute it did, I cut my hair super short. Well, not really. I had it cut a little longer, similar in length to my hair now because the stylist didn’t want to chop everything off (my hair then reaches the clasp of my bra and I just had it straightened a few months prior)! Can you believe it, di pumayag ang bakla. A few weeks later, I had someone to do the deed. And from there on I wore my hair super short, kinda like this:

So there you go, my super shallow post about my hair, my weight and how they are somehow tied to my self worth. Hahahaha, I kid.
