Halloween: Le Ugh

October 31, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

I hate, hate Halloween. I feel it’s a cruel joke that Halloween is only weeks away from Christmas, my favorite holiday. Buuut I’m pretty excited over my upcoming weekend at the beach  (2 consecutive times itey, YES.) and weeks after that, Christmas shopping!

Hay, so many things to be thankful for! This year has been really good to me and it’s almost over, I kenat bilibit. I’m somewhat nervous and shit because I’m hella superstitious and I feel I might come across several unlucky events next year because somehow this year’s bad for those born in the year of the dog and pig’s next on the list, and I’m born in that year and all that. Basta. I’m hoping I’m wrong but I feel the air moving in a direction I don’t like. We’ll see. Better adjust the sails then.

Prepping for the beach next weekend, here’s to hoping we don’t get ravaged by a storm anytime soon 🙂

Retina Dismay Indeed

October 24, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Many people are sorely disappointed with iPad mini’s non-Retina display. HuffPo even coined a special term for it, Retina Dismay. I, on the other hand, is more concerned about the processor than anything else. It runs on an old A5 chip, not the speedier, A6 fitted on the newest iteration of the iPad.

I will buy an iPad mini, that, I’m sure of. I just find it unsettling that they chose an old chip to run the unit, you know? I definitely don’t want a laggy tablet, especially if I’m shelling over 20 grand for it. And don’t get me started on the iPad mini’s ridiculously low RAM (rumored to be 512 MB). If it wasn’t for Apple’s ecosystem, I wouldn’t even dream of owning an iPad. It will take more time before Google will be able to create thousands of tablet optimized apps but the day that it happens is the day I’d buy an Android.

“Family Pic”

October 23, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Having pictures done on a studio used to be all the rage in the late 90’s until the early 2000. My classmates would show off wallet sized pics of them with either their friends or their boyfriends/girlfriends. I wasn’t into that at all. Just wasn’t my thing. But lookit here. the fad caught up with me several years too late:

cat2

This is our official “family” photo and the first time I was photographed in a studio. My first ever studio pic is of my sister and I with a cat. How cute and funny at the same time. This was a spur of the moment thing, we were at Tiende for Dimitri’s rabies shot and check up. We headed to Hyper for a quick bite and saw this photo studio shop of sorts and my sister laughingly dared me we do the whole studio pic thing. Well, since it was cheap, we were there and Dimitri does not live as long as we humans do, I decided to go for it.

Unfortunately, I was wearing the most unflattering shirt that day and my hair was a  fucking mess. In my defense, my allergy is acting up really bad that day and I wasn’t in the mood to “fix” myself up. Plus, since we initially planned to just have the cat checked and leave as soon as that’s done, I didn’t think anyone would see me wearing a horrible shirt. Just goes to show the possibility of one bad decision being immortalized forever.

Despite looking horribly fat and being talked into being photographed with that messy mop, I’m pretty happy how everything turned out. We all looked happy… well, maybe not the cat, hahahah!

Apple Special Event: Yiheeee!

October 22, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Yeah, yeah. Just let my inner fan girl come out and start indulging on the latest from the Apple+Microsoft+Google showdown. First stop, the Apple special event, which is scheduled sometime tomorrow. Am I excited. YES. If the specs are great, I just might get me one of dem iPad minis! Buuuuuut, from what I’ve read (and I read quite a few) it seems the expected RAM is around 512 MB! 512 MB so 2009, dammit. And it will run an older processor too, so at this point, I don’t even know what to think anymore. I mean, as much as I love Apple’s hardware, its innards are just as important and I don’t want to buy an inferior tablet just because of the logo, you know?

For example, Microsoft is all set for Surface’s debut on the 26th. Despite offering their flagship tablet with a diluted Win8 OS, the Surface is made with VaporMg, a premium alloy that’s light as a feather yet super strong! It’s just as pretty as the much lauded iPad mini and with loads of other goodies (HDMI, Micro SD card slot and 3.0 USB ports), etc., I’d be crazy choose it over the mini (if predictions about the specs were to be believed). Let’s hope the tech sites I checked out got the specs wrong otherwise, this could be a deal breaker for me and I really, really wanted an iPad Mini 🙁

Hay, first world problems are the best 😀

My Pink Work Station

October 22, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Here’s what my makeshift work station looks like. Comes complete with a cat. Yeah, I know, it’s an explosion of frilly colors in the house. I used to hate pink when I was still in still stuck in my mukhang lesbiana/woodchuck phase  favoring darker colors like black, red and even green because I refused to look like a girl. But these days, I’ve mellowed down considerably, accepted the fact that I can no longer wear angsty shoutout shirts and I ended up collecting pink things, like a proper female should. The cute Hello Kitty mouse is a gift from the boyfriend.

My ghed, when I think about it, it’ll be three years since I started working from home, which is longer than any time I spent working for any offline company and so muuuuch longer than I expected, hahahaha! But despite my expanded waistline and total lack of social skills, I’m still happy as a clam 🙂

The Now

October 22, 2012 by Tina Lee Leave a Comment

Here’s what I got the boyf for our anniversary. I was somewhat disappointed with the quality of the watch that’s why I also got him a new pair of shoes from Creative Recreation. They make a stylish pair no? So little by little I’m tweaking the boy’s fashion style, hahahahah!

We also headed out north to celebrate my mom’s birthday. It was great, lots of fattening food so now I’m scrambling to get a grip on my appetite. Le sigh. This week’s gonna be a busy one and with the Halloween just around the corner, there’s gonna be a flurry activities as we head back home. With the cat, no less. I also can’t wait to visit my friendsslashdrinkingbuddies this Caturday! Yay!
